Resumen

Este artigo explora as motivações que levam os mesários voluntários a participarem das eleições. Apresenta os resultados de um survey online realizado com voluntários no município de Volta Redonda, localizado no interior do estado do Rio de Janeiro. O estudo também oferece uma atenção especial ao papel dos recursos humanos, e analisa como o engajamento voluntário funciona como um componente essencial da governança eleitoral — especialmente em sua dimensão pessoal. Os resultados sugerem que as motivações intrínsecas, como o senso de dever cívico e o desejo de contribuir para o processo democrático, tendem a ter mais peso do que fatores extrínsecos, como os benefícios materiais.
